UK Waste Electricals and Battery Regulations

Similar to Packaging waste, producer responsibility regulations are in place for Electrical and Electronic Waste (WEEE) and Battery wastes. These regulations aim to increase reuse and recycling and to avoid these wastes being incinerated or landfilled. Specifically, in relation to batteries, the regulations aim to limit the quantities of heavy metals contained within them. These are separately legislated and place obligations on producers.
